# Layout v2 Released, Environmental Costs Per Run, and Steering The Stream

Product Updates September 2026

## Technical Updates

### Layout v2 Is Officially Live!

We have completely overhauled the Agent Builder layout design to vastly improve its UI/UX and how it interacts with users. There will no longer be a need to scroll up or down as everything lives in the same space, including information about the bot, it's preview, instructions, KB, tools and functions, the run button and the costs of running, etc., creating a layout that brings with it an ease of use, intuitiveness, and clean visuals.

Layout v2 has been released for mobile phones as well, with changes that reflect the above, but more customized for the mobile interface.

Go ahead and check it out now on [gooey.ai/agent](https://gooey.ai/agent)!

### Know What An Agent Run Costs, And What It Costs the Planet

It’s important to know how much running an agent costs with each use, not just monetarily but environmentally as well. As such, every run now shows its eco cost in the top bar, with a Cost & Environment Impact modal behind it. You can learn more about it on our [Eco Cost](https://gooey.ai/ecocost) page.

### Steering Conversations On WhatsApp

A UX and QOL update that makes conversations with WhatsApp-deployed Agents more organic and naturally seamless. You can now interrupt an Agent’s response to your message with any additional message of your own (e.g., “but answer in Hindi”), and the Agent will make that adjustment while preserving as much of its initial response it was outputting before interruption, and working it into one single output.

In simpler terms, chatting with Agents on WhatsApp feels less turn-taking and more dynamic, like chatting with a human. For a more complete and detailed explanation of [Steering Conversations](https://devxpy.com/blog/steering-llms-mid-conversation), this blog has you covered.

### Usage In USD Instead Of Credits

There is a new /account/usage page with your monthly credit usage broken down by recipe, drawn with a custom hover band, tooltip and legend so you can read a months’ breakdown at a glance.

The bigger change, however, is that usage is now shown in USD rather than credits as users shouldn’t have to go through a conversion step to know how much a run costs them.

### A New And Improved Recipe For Image Generation

Previously, to generate an image consisted of writing a prompt, selecting an image model from a very limited list of models, and running it. This, while simple, allowed for very little control over the finer details of the output.

As such, with our updated recipe for image generation comes exposure to more tools, meaning you can now choose image size, background style, output format, etc., and you can enable web search and other developer tools.

Additionally, we have expanded our list of the latest and greatest image models to include GPT Image Sunburst, GPT Image Flare, Seedream 5.0, and many more.

You can check out, test, and/or generate images with our new and improved recipe at [gooey.ai/image-gen](http://gooey.ai/image-gen). Have fun!

### Debug Pane Redesigned

In keeping with the new UI- and UX-focused redesign theme of Layout v2, the v2 debug pane now carries run metadata and a new run timeline, making it easier for you to track your agent’s traces. Additionally, at the top of the pane you will find the conversation title, the user who ran it, the workspace charged for the run, and a link to the parent run. If your Agent is deployed on WhatsApp and someone uses it, you can view that associated user’s masked ID.

### Video Generation Goes Full Screen

Now you can make a generated video go full screen! This feature was previously only available for image generation.

### Miscellaneous Updates

* The About surface closes with Privacy, Terms and a Report form.
* The Builder handles insufficient credits properly, and can rerun a blocked workflow.
* Azure Speech SDK upgraded for CRL compatibility.

## Activity Updates

### Ars Electronica

Our Founder-CCO Archana Prasad attended Ars Electronica 2026 from September 9th to 13th in Linz, Austria.

Archana joined Jerry Tuan, Chief Information Officer at CARE USA, for the fireside chat *Who Shapes the Future?*, moderated by Andrea Barschdorf-Hager, CEO of CARE Austria.

The conversation explored how power and responsibility are shared between those building AI, the institutions deploying it, and the communities affected by it, and what it takes to make AI more equitable, inclusive and accountable.

Archana was also part of the jury for the AI for Social Impact Initiative, a collaboration between CARE Austria and Ars Electronica that recognises projects using AI to create positive change in social, environmental and humanitarian contexts. One of the 2026 Grand Prize winners was Afiya AI, developed by Shadi Henchiri and the IOM – UN Migration team in collaboration with us.

Archana also joined the Town Hall ‘Art & Culture as Innovation Drivers in AI Infrastructures’ on 9th September, 2026.

The session brought together artists, researchers, cultural practitioners and infrastructure stakeholders to explore how artists and cultural practitioners can become partners in AI research and innovation.

### Unsecuring Infrastructures

Our Founder-CCO Archana Prasad joined the Unsecuring Infrastructures cohort at Abandon Normal Devices (AND) Festival 2026 in Barnsley, UK, on 26–27 September 2026.

The AND Festival explored questions around society, infrastructure, ecology, and possible futures, placing these conversations within Barnsley’s transformation from a former coal town into the UK’s first government-backed Tech Town.

### Textile Intersections

Our Founder-CCO Archana Prasad attended the Doctoral Consortium at Textile Intersections 2026 on September 16, 2026.

Hosted by the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London, the consortium brought together researchers exploring new intersections across textiles, design, technology, and culture. Archana presented her PhD research, exploring how creative and community practices can shape AI infrastructures. The research asked: *how can cultural knowledge enter AI systems without losing the histories, relationships, and communities that give it meaning*?
